About the client
Our client are an international leader in complex logistics. They provide safe, secure and professional transportation services on behalf on public sector organisations. A national organisation with a substantial presence in Scotland. Our client have 8 locations across Scotland including a control centre, based near Glasgow. Our client already has Armed Forces Veterans as part of it’s management team and estimates that Veterans make up 25% of their workforce across the UK. So, they are looking to expand that in recognition of the skill and fit that ex-Forces could bring. They are currently recruiting for a new Head of Operations to lead Operations in Scotland.
About the role
The Head of Operations will look after all the regions within Scotland as well as have overall responsibility for the main logistics centre in Bellshill. With a capable team reporting to you, your overall workforce will be around 700 people across Scotland. This is a strategically focused role and much of the day to day will revolve around future planning and reporting to key external stakeholders. Additionally, driving workforce engagement and development is a key facet.
You will have full operational and financial accountability for the delivery of our client's operations/ activities. You will proactively lead and motivate the regional teams to look after the people in their care with respect and dignity. You will perform a client-facing role, ensuring business KPI’s are achieved and customer service levels and expectations are exceeded. You will influence stakeholders, whilst driving change and operational improvement within a diverse business.
About you
Ideally our client would be very interested in applications from those who have extensive logistical experience, particularly if it involves moving personnel as much as materiel. You should also have extensive planning experience.
Our client are looking for someone who has proven operational management experience at a executive level. You should have demonstrable people leadership experience, ideally looking after geographically dispersed teams. You should ne comfortable working in a short lead time environment. You should be able and comfortable with owning a £multi-million budget and ensuring profitable delivery of services. Additionally, it is essential that you can communicate and influence effectively, diplomatically and robustly at all levels of seniority whilst building meaningful, professional relationships with a wide range of personalities.
You will need to be an adaptable leader who is an excellent coach and mentor to others in your team and the organisation more widely. Additionally, you should be confident and resilient in challenging the status quo to positively influence and support achievement of business objectives. Exposure to the custodial or justice sectors would be helpful buy not essential.
