About the client
Our client are an international leader in complex logistics. They provide safe, secure and professional transportation services on behalf on various public sector organisations. A national organisation but with a substantial presence in Scotland. Our client have 8 vehicle depots across the country and a control centre, based near Glasgow. Our client already has Armed Forces Veterans as part of it’s management team. So, they are looking to expand that in recognition of the skill and fit that ex-Forces could bring. In particular, they are looking to recruit additional Logistics team leaders.
About the role
In this role, your primary task will be to lead the team that provides safe and secure transport in compliance with contractual responsibilities and internal policies and procedures.
You will:

Allocate staff to vehicles to meet operational needs, ensuring best use of resources available

Ensure that all missions are correctly completed using the technology provided

Process data and generate management reports as directed by AOM

Conduct Daily briefings are completed before commencement of each shift

Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are managed, updated and communicated where necessary

Manage Health and Safety Inspections and Risk Assessment of areas within your control

Respond to incidents and emergencies within your area

Maintain driving licence records for your staff at the vehicle base

Liaise with all external stakeholders as required, ensuring that contractual issues are resolved and mutual understanding and co-operation is achieved

Keep up to date with regular updates to standing operating procedures and working practices and ensure all staff are briefed

Attend all fleet management meetings
Specifically, you'll ensure your team:

keep the vehicle base environment safe, secure and compliant
-
maintain vehicle checks, ensuring the roadworthiness of all vehicles and manage the fleet's servicing and repairs in accordance with company policy

keep the fleet is safely and securely garaged
-
are up to date with mandatory contractual training requirements and work with the training team to coordinate training courses and refreshers
About you
Our client are looking for people with supervisory and team leadership experience. You should work well under pressure and be comfortable working to tight time deadlines and dealing with late notice changes. They are looking for someone who is great at influencing others who had a positive and practical attitude. Our client want someone who is forward thinking, who maintains attention to detail and has a strong customer service focus.
This role would suit a JNCO or above who has perhaps worked in a role where vehicle movement planning was a key part. However, if you have other relevant experience that fits the specification above, we'd be delighted to see your application.
